Finished D11 Dozer Blades

After seven days of continuous work, TKI have completed the wear plating installation on the OTML D11 dozer blades. With the blades standing a little over three meters high and a curvature for scooping and pushing large volumes of rock and dirt, it is no easy task for the team to fit the custom plates.

The Technical Services team cut the plates to size then heated and bent the plate into place, this was then welded securely to the face of the blade using the GMAW method and working to AS/NZS1554.1 SP, exposed welds were then overlayed with hard facing electrodes using the MMAW method to give the new blade an extra layer of wearability.

The thirteen ton blades were transported to OTML mine workshop for immediate use.
