TKI was proud to celebrate the achievement of Two million labour-hours without a Lost Time Injury (LTI).
Held at the Tabubil Country Club, employees were officially recognized for their contribution towards this achievement with the representatives from the Mineral Resource Authority (MRA) and Ok Tedi Mining Limited present.
General Manager Peter Pridgeon in his opening speech reiterated to staff that “all accidents are preventable” and thanked the entire TKI team for this remarkable milestone; which was attained due to the persistent attitude and culture the team have developed towards safety that can be seen throughout the organization.
For TKI ‘as one of the major contractors at OKTedi Mine’ the achievement is seen as a point of pride for the entire workforce. Mr. Pridgeon also pointed out one of the highlights of the year was the demolition and removal of the mine workshop and offices which the team completed on time, on budget and completely injury fee despite setbacks such as weather and landslides.
Speeches by the MRA representative and the OTML General Manger for Mine Processing congratulated TKI and laid down the challenge to keep working safely and achieve the next key performance indicator of five million labour hours without injury.
