TKI Limited has been operating at OKTedi Mine since 1989 and has had a consistent shareholding for most of its thirty years in operation. As of March 2020 the majority of TKI Limited shareholding (80%)has been transferred to a charitable organisation for the benefit of surrounding communities. The Telefomin and North Fly Foundation Limited has been set up to benefit from the increased activity TKI Limited has enjoyed with OKTedi mining. The Foundation will invest dividends in infrastructure projects, education and healthcare within the Telefomin and North Fly Districts. The Foundation shall initially be managed by three TKI Limited Directors: William Lamur (OBE) Mathew May and Peter Pridgeon with Mr Pridgeon taking the role of Chairman.
This is a positive step in the evolution of OKTedi Mining and TKI Limited, Mr Pridgeon states: ”we have worked on this process for nearly three years, with the help of OTML Dep. CEO Musje Werror. We are now able to bring some lasting change to the local communities as the mine continues for the foreseeable future”
